SARASOTA, Fla. - The First Academy defeated the Sarasota Sailors 5-0 in seven innings  on Friday. The Sailors were limited to three hits with Imwalle and Long both hitting singles and Dellatorre hitting a double.

 

Starting pitcher Gubelman pitched three innings, giving up one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out three. In relief, Pierce gave up four earned runs on three hits and three walks. Jones and Banks closed out the game pitching three innings holding First Academy to no earned runs, two hits, four walks and struck out five.

 

The First Academy never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Graham Dvorak and tacking on another four runs in the fourth. A clutch passed ball scored Peyton Hopkins to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Nick Gavin's single, plating Chadwick Word.
