Sarasota Varsity v Manatee, 5-3
Sarasota built a five-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Manatee's charge for a 5-3 victory on Wednesday. Manatee scored two runs in the failed comeback. John Van Etten and Devin Calderon fueled the rally with RBIs.
Sarasota got things moving in the first inning. Kyle Manitz singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Garrett Browning led Sarasota to victory on the mound. The righthander surrendered three runs on six hits over five and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero. Manitz and Bradley Ramsden entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Manitz recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Sarasota.
Jacob Rodriguez took the loss for Manatee. The pitcher surrendered five runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Sarasota racked up ten hits. Ramsden and Danny Torrealba all managed multiple hits for Sarasota. Torrealba and Ramsden each collected two hits to lead Sarasota.
Trevor Viera went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Manatee in hits. Manatee was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Viera had the most chances in the field with five.
